Alan knew me as Miss Josie, I helped out in his first grade classroom. From the first time I met Alan, I knew he was special. He was always smiling, and I loved his glasses and his sweet little freckles. I find it hard to put Alan into words, he was just so unique, and wonderful. He could manage to put a smile on ANYBODY’s face, and never passed up a chance to make someone’s day. He loved to talk to me, and I loved hearing his stories. Whenever I think of him, I remember him wearing his oversized tie-dye tee shirt, and camo pants. I would work with the kids one-on-one, and I always looked forward to working with my little buddy. I passed by Alan in the hall the week before his accident. Most kids had forgotten about me, but not my sweet Alan. He ran over to me and gave me a big hug, and told me that he missed me. If I knew then what I know now, I would have hugged him just a little longer, and told him how special he was to me.
